SkateOn was founded over 20 years ago out of frustration with the inadequate skate facilities in the Netherlands. The company is run entirely by (former) skaters and professionals with a strong affinity for skateboarding.
Initially, we started by designing and building wooden indoor skateparks. To also be able to offer skate facilities in public spaces, we started experimenting with hand-applied (shotcrete) concrete. This is a technique that has been the standard in the US for decades and was introduced to Europe in 2001.
Shotcrete is the perfect material for the construction of skateparks but requires a great deal of specialist experience. In the Netherlands, we are the first company to have focused specifically on this, which means that we have built up years of experience on a variety of projects. This makes us the specialist in the design and realisation of concrete skate landscapes.
In addition to a management team that has roots in technical and design studies and has gained experience in various technical sectors, we have an international construction team. This team consists of specialists from countries including the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, GB, USA, Australia, Germany, Finland, Poland and Spain.
All our employees have years of experience as athletes on a skateboard, inline skates or BMX bike. Thanks to this experience, we have an eye for detail and we know how to implement the needs of all levels and target groups in our designs.
